Efron's been around a while now and has no trouble finding roles, but nobody knows what he can really do.

One of his next projects is "The Lucky One" based on a book by Nicholas Sparks; maybe that will finally be the breakthrough role for him. Worked for Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams :)Mike Meltonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02534185744903304814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6918110268392867658.post-386625266096591372011-12-17T23:17:13.327-08:002011-12-17T23:17:13.327-08:00Yeah, I was pretty disappointed. It's going to take too long for him to be involved in something that shows off his talent and perhaps the high school musical crap put him in a bad spot. But then again, we have Jennifer Hudson (or whatever her name is) from American Idol that won a damn Academy Award...so maybe there's hope.Joe Senarthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07076398864920249464noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6918110268392867658.post-33374349140294103592011-12-17T21:55:38.258-08:002011-12-17T21:55:38.258-08:00I really REALLY wanted to like this one. I was expecting a tearjerker with a supernatural twist, but what I got was just supernaturally twisted, and the only tears were of disappointment.

I'm gonna throw this out there...I like Zac Efron. He's not only extremely photogenic (not that I'm jealous, the bastard), but he's also able to make audiences care about his characters. Despite all the supernatural hooey going on around him, Charlie St. Cloud is a complex, emotionally troubled, ADULT character, and there's not a single false note in the performance. The guy can act...I just hope he finds the role that finally makes everyone take notice.

For me, Efron really is the only reason to see this one. I found myself annoyed at the brother (good god, he's dead...does that make me a horrible person??), the girlfriend was kind of bland (good god, she's...wait, maybe I don't want to give anything away). And Kim Basinger, hey- Kim Basinger's in it?? I almost said I'll have to watch it again and look for her.

But that ain't gonna happen.Mike Meltonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02534185744903304814noreply@blogger.com
